Time had passed more than six years since I joined BP Tangguh to build the Tangguh LNG Plant operations team. Through 'Our Blog' I want to share my experiences to all of you. I just hope that it will be useful for you. Joining BP Tangguh Operations Team It was on August 14, 2006 when I work the first time at the Arkadia Office Building Tower D 4th Floor. |
Recruiting Operations Team After adapting to the situation at the Arkadia office, including how to use Microsoft Outlook to manage e-mail and calendar, I immediately prepare a recruitment plan. Tge operations organization offered to me at that time very 'lean'. I think it would not be possible with such number of personnel to run two LNG Plants and its supporting facilities safely, not to mention to do the commissioning and start-up. |

Although many candidates we received, but the main difficulty is to get an experienced operators in the operation of the LNG plant. I know many friends at Badak and Arun LNG plant that I think will be interested in joining including those who had been out working in Qatar for more than 5 years and may expect to be able to return to work in the country.
With such information at hand, we visited the management of PT Badak NGL in Jakarta and in Bontang to discuss possible cooperation and avoid a lot of misunderstanding when we were offering jobs to several PT Badak workers that we value as potential candidates.
Enthusiasm of our friends at PT Badak NGL is very good and we also managed to convince the management of PT Badak NGL that this program can actually help their employee development agenda, in streamlining the organization as well as provide better growth opportunities to the workers. This would lead to a better company performance of course.
It is proven that until now PT Badak NGL is survived in continuing operating the LNG plants safely although not at full capacity due to limited gas supply. Even PT Badak NGL has developed itself to providing training and start-up manpower to the various LNG plants in the Middle East and Africa.
Beside that, I also run an informal campaign paths through yahoo group assisted by Bambang Sudiono who had worked in Qatar and was joined with us in the Utility team at that time. We managed to screen-out a lot of Indonesian candidates working in Qatar not only for Operations team but also for Maintenance, HSE, and even Logistics. We also sent a representative directly to Qatar to convince some of them about the Tangguh LNG plant which was still under construction.
